Asking for directions | Sample conversations

Conversation 1

First speaker: Excuse me. Is there a bank near here?
Second speaker: Yes. There’s one near here.
First speaker: How do I get there?
Second speaker: Go straight on. At the traffic lights, take the first right and go straight on. It’s on the right.
First speaker: Is it far from here?
Second speaker: No, it is only five minutes’ walk.
First speaker: Thank you.
Second speaker: That’s OK.

Conversation 2

First speaker: Excuse me. Is there a good South Indian restaurant near here?
Second speaker: Yes. There’s a South Indian restaurant on the corner.
First speaker: Thank you.
Second speaker: You’re welcome.

Conversation 3

First speaker: Excuse me, could you tell me how to get to the railway station?
Second speaker: It’s this way. Go past the fire station. You will find the railway station on your left.
First speaker: Is it far from here?
Second speaker: Not really.
First speaker: Thank you.
Second speaker: You’re welcome.

Conversation 4

First speaker: Excuse me, do you know where the post office is?
Second speaker: Take this road. Go straight ahead until you reach the crossroads. At the crossroads, turn left. Keep going for another 100 yards. You’ll find the post office on your left.
First speaker: Thank you very much.
Second speaker: That’s all right.
