Inviting People Out

We often invite people out. Here are two sample conversations.

I thought we could have lunch together

Conversation 1

Vijay: Hi Amar, are you busy on Monday morning?

Amar: Yes, I’ve got to attend a meeting at my daughter’s school. And then I’ve to go to the airport to see off a friend.

Vijay: So you won’t be free until afternoon.

Amar: No. By the way, why did you ask?

Vijay: Nothing. I thought we could have lunch together.

Amar: I will be free after 3 o’clock. If you don’t mind we can meet for tea or dinner.

Vijay: That sounds good. Then, let’s meet at seven o’clock, shall we?

Amar: Sure. See you then.

Vijay: See you.

Conversation 2

You are always busy!

Sona: Hi Maya, do you fancy going out tonight?

Maya: I’d like to, but I’ve got too much work to do.

Sona: Oh, come on. You’re always busy. Don’t you think you deserve a break every now and then?

Maya: What can I do? I’ve got tight deadlines. If I miss them, I’ll be fired.

Sona: That’s too bad. Anyway, we’re going to the theatre tonight. If you’d like to come, just give me a call and I’ll send the car to pick you up.

Maya: I don’t know if I can make it. Anyway, I’ll let you know.
