This exercise tests your understanding of basic grammar rules. Each question given below contains one or more grammatical errors. You have to rewrite those sentences correctly.
1. Susie is prettiest girl in the class.
2. My sister is taller then me.
3. I have read a book you are talking about.
4. China is one of the largest country in the world.
5. There is a book on table.
6. I ate apple in the morning.
7. He took book from library.
8. You’r an idiot.
9. This is my bag. Where is your’s?
10. A lion is not as faster as a cheetah.
Answers
1. Susie is the prettiest girl in the class. (Superlative adjectives take the article the.)
2. My sister is taller than me. (Then is an adverb. It is often confused with than.)
3. I have read the book you are talking about.
4. China is one of the largest countries in the world. (After one of, none of and some of we use a plural noun or pronoun.)
5. There is a book on the table. (A singular countable noun always takes an article or another determiner with it.)
6. I ate an apple in the morning.
7. He took a book from the library.
8. You’re an idiot. (The words you’re and your are often confused. You’re is the contracted form of you are. Your is a possessive word like his or her.)
9. This is my bag. Where is yours? (Possessive pronouns do not take –’s.)
10. A lion is not as fast as a cheetah. (We use a positive adjective in the structure as…as)
