Change affirmative to negative

June 7th, 2016 in English Learning

Read the following sentences.

  • I had little knowledge of scorpions.
  • The dog ran round and round the room barking hysterically.

These sentences make a positive statement. Hence they are called affirmative sentences or positive sentences.

Now read the following sentences.

  • I had no knowledge of scorpions.
  • The dog did not run round and round the room, barking hysterically.

These sentences make negative statements. Hence they are called negative sentences.

Rewrite the affirmative sentences as negative sentences.

1. It was an ancient brick wall that had been plastered over.

2. The shyest and the most self-effacing of the wall community were the most dangerous.

3. I found a fat female scorpion on the wall.

4. I placed the matchbox on the mantelpiece in the living room.

5. The female scorpion was agitated at being shut up in the matchbox.

6. The girl let out a scream.

7. Mother was bewildered by this sudden change from peace to chaos.
