Combine using so…that…

The correlative so…that… shows a cause and effect relationship.

Note the structure: so + adjective /adverb + that + clause.

An example is given below.

  • He is so weak. He cannot walk.
  • He is so weak that he cannot walk.

Combine the following sentences using so…that…

1. The coffee was too hot. It burnt my mouth.

2. The problem is very difficult. I cannot solve it.

3. He worked hard. He wanted to pass the test.

4. This table is very heavy. I cannot lift it.

5. The famine was very severe. Thousands of people perished.

6. He is too proud. He will not beg.

7. He is very ill. The doctors do not expect him to recover.

8. He was too tired. He could not get out of the bed.

9. The book was very interesting. I finished it in one sitting.

10. It was very dark. I couldn’t see anything.
